Course Description
Over the course of four meetings we will take a broad, often light-hearted look at how mathematics plays into our lives and the world we live in. Topics will include surprising facts about statistics, how math errors in engineering and design have caused myriad misadventures over the years, how patterns described by simple mathematical formulae are implemented in nature often to our delight, the surprising mathematics of music, the intimate and startling relation between logic and mathematics,
