Science Marvels and Curiosities

Course Description

Over the course of five meetings we will explore a variety of science topics that play varying roles in our daily lives. 

  • Science of Tides: nature of tidal forces, how they manifest around the world and their role in the biosphere.
  • Our Electromagnetic World: explore the nature, utility and vulnerability of these forces that enable long-range communications, power, navigation and much more. 
  • Paradox: explore the nature of paradox and its cousins within and well beyond basic logic into the English language, business and economics.
  • Games People Play: explore game theory in many aspects of our lives including warfare, economics, gambling and applications in physical and life science.
  • Robot Renaissance? How and when will robots replace people?
